In the past two chapters (Episode 49 & Episode 50) of How To Be An Atheist by Dr. Mitch Stokes, we’ve been covering nihilism and their belief system. It seems like a difficult concept as to how someone would hold it and still maintain a conversation about anything moral.
Pastor Jeff Durbin from Apologia Church in the above video talks with a person espousing moral nihilism. Pastor Durbin does a great job, as always, of being gracious and patient in his presuppositional method. Watch how the nihilist is completely conflicted within his own worldview. Nihilism is not postmodernism (what’s true for me is true for you). It’s a complete rejection of there being as moral truths – even subjective ones.
So when we see someone opposing Israeli occupation of Palestinean areas or even murdering children, no moral outrage or judgment should be had. That’s not what we see here. There’s an attempt to have one’s cake but also claim that the cake is a lie.
